Nau mai, haere mai ki te Kura o Fitzroy. On behalf of the Fitzroy school community, I’d like to introduce and welcome you to our beautiful school and the Fitzroy Family. We are proud of our school and are pleased to have this opportunity to tell you a little bit about us and what makes Fitzroy school so special. 

Fitzroy School is an integral part of the thriving suburb of Fitzroy, New Plymouth. The location is well known for its beautiful beach and the Fitzroy Village shopping area.

I consider it a real privilege to be the Principal of Fitzroy School. I am incredibly proud to lead this school and support our beautiful children as they grow during their time with us. Alongside my team, we work hard to make Fitzroy school a place of academic, cultural, sporting, and personal excellence.

Our school is one of the oldest in Taranaki, having been established in 1882. Nestled in the beautiful seaside village of Fitzroy, the staff provide supportive, fun, student-centred learning environments. We utilise our beautiful surroundings to provide a place-based curriculum full of rich learning experiences. Our learning environments are focused on quality outcomes for each individual, and we value the development of the whole child.

Fitzroy School has a current roll of 440 children. We are a contributing school with students up to Year 6. Our 17 classes are exciting and vibrant places to be. Our teachers are skilled and dedicated, and our children are responsive and great ambassadors for our community.

A special aspect of Fitzroy school is the children themselves. We want our children to leave our school being great citizens, well-grounded, prepared, and excited about the future. Our children are well known for their academic, cultural, and sporting achievements. They always make us proud. They inspire and impress me every day in many ways.

As a community, we celebrate and respond to the uniqueness of every Fitzroy family learner. Together, we live and model the Fitzroy Family values of excellence, integrity, respect, and resilience. Through a love of learning, our children are confident, connected, and culturally proactive.

We also enjoy and recognise the tremendous parental involvement within the school. The Board and Friends of Fitzroy School (Fundraising group) are active in ensuring the best opportunities for our children.

Fitzroy School is committed to providing educational opportunities within an environment that fosters excellence, integrity, resilience, and respect.

With our supportive parent and community body, this makes up the "Fitzroy Family." I look forward to welcoming new families and continuing to reinforce relationships with those who are already a part of the Fitzroy Family.
