The school reports to parents on student progress twice per year. The mid year report consists of a written report which is used as a guide for an interview between parent/student/teacher. These are held mid year and parents are invited to make an appointment for these interviews online. Information about how to go about this is issued prior to the interviews taking place.
At the end of the year the students are issued with a final written report for the year.
At any time during the year parents are welcome to make an appointment with their child's teacher to discuss their child's learning.
The school newsletter is our premier source of communication with parents and the wider community. The newsletter is published every second Friday of the term starting from week 2 and emailed to all caregivers. If you are not receiving these please check your "Junk" folder on your email client and/or check with the school office to see whether we have your correct email address. There are a few hard copies printed if you prefer, these can be collected from the school office or alternatively you can download the lastest copy from the link on the bottom of the school's home page.
School hours are between 8.55am - 3.00pm Monday to Friday.
Lunch time is 1pm - 1.45pm
Classrooms are open for children from 8.30am.
We do not encourage children prior to this time due to safety reasons. Teachers are busy in their classrooms preparing for their day and children are not supervised in the playground.
No children inside the school gates before 8.30am please
8.30am - 3.15pm Monday to Friday. The office is closed during school holidays.
Fitzroy School has an enrolment scheme in place, which means it is zoned. This affects all new enrolments. An Enrolment Scheme is designed to manage the roll growth of our school.
Please check with the school if you are unsure whether you are within the school's zone or catchment area. In most circumstances, children who live outside the zone are not eligible for enrolment.
Further information for parents about an enrolment scheme can be found on the Ministry of Education website.
Ring the office to add your child to the pre enrolment list. Approx 8-10 weeks before your child turns 5 or if you have moved to the Fitzroy area, phone the office to make an appointment with our Deputy Principal Heather Weston to complete the enrolment paperwork and to organise school visits.
Refer to: Office | Enrolments for further details.
The office can provide you with a new entrant stationery pack.
You can order hats, bookbags, house t-shirts and school hoodies on your Kindo account, this will be sent to your child's class. All other stationery requirements are available online from Officemax. Just go to myschool.co.nz and choose Fitzroy School.

The school uses an early notification system. It is most important that caregivers contact details are always kept up to date. Please contact the school office if your circumstances change.
If you know your child is going to be late (arrive after 8.55am), please phone the office so we can mark this down otherwise you will receive a text asking why they are not at school.
