Sports & CultureOur children have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of sports and cultural activities. Cultural Activities A number of activities are organised school-wide throughout the year, these being selected to ensure a variety of experiences are available to the children. Regular visits, at least once per term by outside performers, ensure students get a taste of the variety of talent that exists both locally and nationally and all classes experience a number of visits to Puke Ariki Museum and Govett Brewster Art Gallery annually. In recent years, the school choir and kapa haka group have performed regularly at events and presentations of children's work have been mounted and displayed. A Year 5/6 social is organised by the Year 5 students at the end of the year to farewell our Year 6 students.
Sporting Activities The school encourages students to become involved in sports being offered to them in the school and the wider community. Most of the team sports for students are organised through community sports clubs. At present rugby, soccer, cricket, tennis and other minor sports are available through Clubs. Netball, hockey and mini-ball are supported within the school. Staff members take on board a liaison role with varying codes and our grounds are used extensively out of school hours for practices and games. During the school week, sports programmes are also organised for students. Every opportunity to host KiwiSport instructors and to access coaching is willingly accepted. During the winter months, sports exchanges for our Senior School are arranged with neighbouring schools.
